Abdominal Earth – a solo death-doom endeavor launched by The Red Chord guitarist Mike McKenzie in 2001 under the moniker Nyarlathotep – has returned after a lengthy 12-year break with new offerings!

The project first emerged with its self-titled album in 2013 and is now reintroducing itself through an EP of rare tracks called Vestige I. This latest release features a song that was excluded from the debut album, alongside reimagined renditions of tracks from two other projects McKenzie is part of – wear Your Wounds and Umbra Vitae. You can easily secure your copy of Vestige I.

Diving deeper into the essence of Vestige I, McKenzie explained: “Vestige⁣ I comprises a compact collection of pieces drawn from various sources. ‘Immeasurable Force’ was originally one among several demos crafted for the self-titled LP released back in 2013. It ultimately didn’t make it onto the final tracklist before any lyrics were penned.”

“The songs ‘Gates Give Draw (SE x WYW)’ and ‘Tumble (SE x UV)’ were both collaborative recordings with Wear Your Wounds and Umbra Vitae , respectively. Each track showcases unique approaches to chord progressions and techniques that differ from their typical styles.”
