Kim Thayil, the celebrated guitarist of Soundgarden, has announced that his eagerly awaited memoir, A Screaming Life: Into the Superunknown With Soundgarden And Beyond, will be released on October 28 by HarperCollins.
In a heartfelt message regarding his memoir, Thayil shared: “Greetings to all my friends in the realm of Soundgarden! It’s Kim Thayil here, thrilled to inform you that I’ve been crafting a book over the past few years! Titled A Screaming Life, it recounts my experiences as an American child of immigrants growing up in Chicago.”
“Together with another son of immigrants, Hiro Yamamoto, we ventured to Seattle as optimistic young adults. We immersed ourselves in underground and autonomous cultures and joined forces with Chris Cornell to establish what would eventually be recognized as Soundgarden. This book details my journey and advancement alongside the band while contributing to Seattle’s dynamic music scene. Ultimately, it emphasizes my collaborations with both Matt cameron and later Ben Shepherd as we forged our way toward international acclaim.
