As the iconic Brazilian metal group Sepultura embarks on their farewell tour, they are preparing to offer a final gift to their devoted fans: an original four-track EP set for free release in 2026.
This forthcoming EP will showcase the first recorded contributions from drummer Greyson Nekrutman, who became part of the band in 2024 following the unexpected departure of longtime drummer Eloy casagrande, who transitioned to join Slipknot.
In a recent discussion at this year’s Mystic Festival, guitarist Andreas Kisser provided insights into this exciting project: “We’ve laid down four new tracks featuring Greyson on drums. Many might not be aware yet, but we’re ready with these songs and plan to unveil an EP next year as a tribute to this moment. These are fresh creations we’ve been developing. Everything is already recorded; we’re just taking our time to ensure it’s released at the perfect moment.”
Kisser further explained that their creative journey for this new material has been relaxed and exploratory: “We took our time without any rush. The titles for these tracks haven’t been finalized yet; we’ll sort that out later. We’re still in the mixing phase—there’s no pressure—and it feels fantastic. Given our farewell tour theme, we can approach things artistically with more freedom.”
The Grand Finale: A Hopeful Reunion?
“I genuinely hope they can make it,” Kisser shared during a recent conversation with“The vision is to host an epic farewell concert [in 2026] in São Paulo, Brazil, where all friends and guests can gather together and celebrate our journey.” He added, “There’s no reason for conflict; we simply want everyone on stage enjoying themselves together. Everyone knows how to play these songs—it will be a celebration of forty years filled with numerous albums across various musical styles—a remarkable event I hope everyone can partake in.”
“The longer we travel down this path together, the more fulfilled I feel without needing anything else,” Max continued.”What we’re creating now possesses its own magic—it’s something special between us two right now.I believe if there were ever another official reunion involving Sepultura again,it wouldn’t resonate like what we have going here.”
“Fans might argue they wouldn’t want me performing alongside others if they’re seeking something ‘authentic.’ But honestly? I’m not interested because I’m genuinely excited about what we’ve built within Cavalera,” he concluded emphatically.” It’s simply not happening.”
