Nothing is set to release a thought-provoking and somewhat somber album titled A Brief History of Decay on November 4. Accompanying this launch is the captivating new single, “Cannibal World,” which is now available for streaming. This marks a significant departure from the band’s earlier shoegaze sound, yet Nothing remains committed to delivering extraordinary music, and this upcoming project promises to uphold that standard.
The band’s lineup in 2025 features frontman Domenic “Nicky” palermo, guitarist Doyle Martin, known for his work with the band Cloakroom, bassistBobb Bruno, drummerZachary Jones strong >—who has previously collaborated with bothMSC strong >andManslaughter 777 strong >—and additional guitaristCam Smith strong >from bothLadder To God strong >andCloakroom. p>
“I am delving into subjects that I have never openly discussed before—thoughts that have lingered in my mind for quite some time,” P alermo shares regarding the new album.
Interestingly, flee For Hide Records mentions that this latest project was once considered unlikely:
A Brief History of Decay< / em > follows their acclaimed 2020 release,< em>The Enormous atrocious< / em >, which showcased a darker evolution of their signature shoegaze style first established in earlier albums: 2018’s< em> Dance on the Blacktop< / em >, 2016’s< em>D rained of Tomorrow< / em >, and 2014’s< em>The Guilty Of Everything.< / e m > p>
“After we put out ‘Atrocious,’ I believed we might have reached our pinnacle as a band. Though, life took unexpected turns that reignited my enthusiasm for making more music,” he reflects.
