Festival-goers at the 2023 Louder Than Life event in Louisville, Kentucky, were treated to an unforgettable experience on Sunday, September 21. The renowned band Evanescence delivered a stunning rendition of their classic hit “Bring Me to Life,” serving as the grand finale of their performance.
Sharing the stage with them was Paul McCoy, lead singer of 12 Stones, who originally contributed guest vocals to this iconic track. This marked mccoy’s first live collaboration with Evanescence on this song since 2016.
“Bring Me to Life,” which appears on Evanescence’s seminal debut album Fallen, has achieved diamond status in the United States and is widely regarded as one of the standout singles from the early 2000s option metal genre. The track also earned them a Grammy Award for Best Hard Rock Performance, cementing Evanescence’s place in heavy music history.
While at Louder Than Life, frontwoman Amy Lee participated in an interview with PK from ALT 105.1. She discussed their current tour and shared insights about their upcoming album. Lee mentioned that they are currently experiencing a transitional period where they are blending songs from various albums while gearing up to unveil new material.
“At this moment, we find ourselves in a sort of creative limbo as we’ve been touring our last album, The Bitter Truth, for quite some time now,” Lee explained. “Our setlist features tracks from all our previous albums but has primarily revolved around that theme.”
“We’re now halfway through crafting our next album. With only a few shows left this year, we feel its time for change; we can’t keep doing what we’ve done before nor can we solely play new songs… However, we do have two fresh tracks ready to integrate into our performances,” she added enthusiastically. “It feels like we’re entering an exciting teenage phase creatively! For festivals like tonight’s where we have an hour-long slot, it allows us to fill it with beloved hits from each album and truly make it enjoyable.”
Pushed further about their progress on new recordings, lee remarked: “I would say we’re beyond halfway; significant progress is being made.”
