Chances are, you’ve encountered those elusive unreleased albums that you yearn too listen to, yet they remain frustratingly out of reach. these are the records we all dream of experiencing, but unfortunately, they exist only in the shadows.
cannibal Corpse – Created To Execute
In 1995, the legendary death metal band Cannibal Corpse entered the studio with aspirations to produce a follow-up to their acclaimed album The Bleeding, featuring original frontman Chris Barnes. The project was tentatively titled Created To Execute, and early recording sessions hinted at an even more aggressive and unrefined sound than their previous works.
However, as recording progressed, internal conflicts within the band intensified. Disagreements over creative direction and dissatisfaction with performances led to significant tension among members. Ultimately, these issues resulted in a decision for the band to part ways with Barnes before finalizing the album.
After Barnes’ exit, Cannibal Corpse brought on vocalistGeorge “Corpsegrinder” Fisher, who had previously performed withMonstrosity. The band then re-recorded all tracks with new lyrics and vocal arrangements. This revamped version was released later that same year under the titleVile, marking Fisher’s debut and signaling a new chapter for Cannibal Corpse.
The original concept ofCreated To Execute, while never officially launched into public circulation, has become somewhat legendary among collectors as rough mixes from Barnes’ sessions have surfaced on bootlegs. This abandoned project stands as a compelling transitional artifact—representing both an end to one era of Cannibal Corpse’s journey and a beginning for its most enduring lineup.
The Deftones – The Mythical Album: Eros
The albumEros, envisioned as a successor to Deftones’ celebrated 2006 releaseSaturday Night Wrist em > , commenced recording in 2008. The band’s ambition was to craft an experimental sound marked by heavy atmospheric elements and unconventional song structures.
Bands members noted that this material delved into darker themes compared to its predecessor during what turned out to be a challenging creative phase for them. Midway through production tragedy struck when bassistChi Cheng sustained serious injuries from a car accident that left him in critical condition. In light of these circumstances, Deftones decided it would be best to put< em >Eros em > on hold; they felt it no longer resonated with their emotional state at that time and shifted focus towards what would eventually become< em >Diamond Eyes em > in 2010. p >
Sine then,< em >Eros em > has achieved almost mythical status among fans eagerly anticipating its release; snippets along with leaked demos (including live performances) have emerged online offering glimpses into its dark yet abrasive aesthetic while remaining officially unreleased.< strong >< / strong >
