Andy Biersack, the lead vocalist of Black Veil Brides, is actively championing the band’s new single, “Straightforward Job,” which will be featured on their upcoming album set too launch later this year under Spinefarm Records.

This time, Rock Sound‘s James Wilson-Taylor sat down with Biersack to explore the band’s shifting musical landscape.

“I think there are two main reasons for this evolution,” Biersack shares. “First off, we’ve been together for a long time and have produced music over many years. Our goal has always been to avoid creative redundancy. recently, we found ourselves at a juncture where none of us felt particularly thrilled about crafting another conventional rock opera.”

Black Veil Brides, established in 2006—almost two decades ago—has released six studio albums throughout their journey. In addition to his work with the band, biersack has also explored solo endeavors under the name Andy Black.

“What we’re striving for aligns closely with my vision for storytelling and what [guitarist] Jake Pitts is developing musically. the intensity of our sound feels authentic and essential within this framework. I also believe it tells a compelling story as we’re not merely categorizing every track as ‘the heavy one.’ When listeners engage with the entire album, they will discover that while there are powerful moments, they complement more classic elements characteristic of Black Veil Brides.”

Biersack wraps up by asserting: “This album is definitely more aggressive compared to our earlier works.”

Thematic exploration in “Straightforward Job”

The darker motifs evident in their latest work are highlighted as Biersack discusses “Straightforward Job“, stating: “The idea behind ‘Straightforward Job’ serves as a cornerstone throughout this project.” He mentions that inspiration was drawn from the film *Conclave*, especially its critique on rigid belief systems that can confine individuals within self-imposed boundaries. As dogma becomes entrenched over time, curiosity and personal growth tend to stagnate—a phenomenon mirrored in today’s political climate where echo chambers prevail.
