Between The Buried And Me is set to make a important impact in the progressive metal scene! The band has officially joined forces with InsideOutMusic and is gearing up to release their most ambitious and diverse album yet, titled The Blue Nowhere, on september 12. You can check out their latest single, “things We Show ourselves In The Dark,” wich features a visually stunning music video directed by Miles Skarin.
“for ‘Things We Show Ourselves In The Dark,’ we aimed to bring the hotel from the album’s artwork into a three-dimensional space,” explained the band.”We created a 3D model of the hotel based on that artwork and captured images of it at different times throughout the day. Marigold serves as a recurring motif in this narrative, so we included a scene where countless marigold petals begin to cover the hotel.”
“This involved an intricate particle simulation that took 17 hours to process and render. We also incorporated surreal elements into the video, such as endless hotel corridors and unusual sequences featuring doors leading to various rooms within this imaginative space. We’re incredibly pleased with how it turned out and hope everyone enjoys watching our vision come alive!”
Tommy Rogers, vocalist for Between The Buried And Me, shared his thoughts: “This track was born from Dan Briggs’ brilliant creativity. It explores the dark cloud of ego, so I approached my vocals with an unconventional sense of confidence—almost like delivering a pop song… even though it takes you down some wild paths, you can still sit back and sing along.”
Bassist Dan Briggs added: “It’s one of those rare songs where I started with bass lines that have an infectious groove while maintaining an underlying melodic simplicity despite its rhythmic complexity.”
“I love when our arrangements feel like they transition into another dimension; however, I felt it was crucial for this piece to maintain seamless dynamics throughout its progression. Even during heavier moments, I wanted it to retain that fun essence reminiscent of prince’s band keeping things funky.”
This upcoming album is produced by long-time collaborator Jamie King , marking it as their first project featuring extensive string and horn sections. For those interested in getting ahead of the game,pre-orders are available now!
