Ben Weinman, renowned for his contributions to Teh Dillinger Escape Plan, adn Brent Hinds, a key figure in the legendary band Mastodon, joined forces in the supergroup Giraffe tongue Orchestra. The friendship between weinman and Hinds spanned over twenty-five years. Reflecting on their connection, he shared:
“People often questioned how someone like me could be so close with someone like him. One night backstage when substances were being passed around, I considered joining until [Hinds] intervened and said, ‘No… that’s not you. I genuinely appreciate you just as you are.’ That moment truly captured who he was—when he called someone his best friend, it came from a place of sincerity.”
“Brent,” Weinman continued with emotion,”I will forever cherish our memories—the music we crafted together—and even your signature guitar left at my home as an invitation for us to jam again.” He fondly remembered the tiki statue that Hinds began carving for him using wood sourced from his backyard.
“Today I woke up flooded with messages checking if I’m alright since everyone knew how much you meant to me.” In closing this poignant message about their aspirations for future tours together:
“AJ suggested we reunite GTO for another Australian tour; however, it seems destiny had other plans following your tragic accident.”
