Baroness has shared the devastating news of the loss of their esteemed drummer, Allen Blickle. The band’s frontman, John Baizley, conveyed his grief and paid tribute too his long-time friend and musical collaborator.

“It is with a heavy heart that I announce the passing of my dear friend, creative partner, and treasured bandmate Allen Blickle, who left us just a few days ago,” stated Baizley. “I am still struggling to accept that he is no longer here. We ask for your compassion as his family and our band navigate this challenging period of mourning. Allen, you will forever be in our hearts. I treasure every moment we shared.”

The news aboutBlickle’s death began circulating over the weekend through various tributes but was only officially confirmed by the band recently.

Blickle, one of the founding members of this savannah, Georgia-based ensemble, played a pivotal role in defining their sound since they emerged in the early 2000s. His dynamic drumming was prominently featured on their debut album, the critically acclaimed 2007 release titled The Red Album, along with its successor from 2009 known as The Blue Record. These albums positioned Baroness as a groundbreaking force within modern heavy music—blending elements of sludge metal with contemporary rock influences and melodic depth.
