This year, fans are not only looking forward to a new album from the legendary band Testament, but they will also be treated to a reimagined version of one of their classic records! In a recent interview with The Rockpit, lead vocalist Chuck Billy disclosed that the group is in the process of remixing their 1990 album, Souls Of Black, utilizing the original 2-inch tape on wich it was recorded. This approach guarantees high-quality source material for this exciting project.
“We’re set to remix it,” shared Billy. “We actually have access to the original 2-inch tape, and rather of merely remastering it, we’re undertaking a complete remix. it’s currently in the mixing phase. Additionally, we have some thrilling new packaging ideas lined up.”
“I anticipate that it will be released by late this year or early next year. Naturally, while promoting our latest work,Para Bellum,we’ll incorporate tracks from [[Souls Of Black]] into our performances as part of our promotional activities when it’s available. That should create an enjoyable experience for everyone involved.”
“We are reclaiming rights to all six of our initial albums with Atlantic Records. After reissuing [[Souls Of Black]],we’ll shift focus towards bringing back [[The Ritual]—an album we’ve been cautious about revisiting—but now I’m eager to celebrate that entire record soon.”
I usually don’t gravitate towards remixes or remasters; however, it’s comforting that Testament would utilize genuine source material rather than relying on outdated digital files.
